Asim Ali
The Syed Family Foundation

Asim Ali, who works as an information technology specialist for Auburn's College of Education, addressed the Auburn
Rotary Club about The Syed Foundation. The foundation is an organization dedicated to improving education and living conditions of people in Pakistan. Ali, a native of Pakistan who
moved to Auburn 17 years ago, is working with other family members through the family's foundation to spread democracy with an American ally by contributing to the education of the populace. Pakistan currently has a literacy rate of only 49 percent, with 35 percent of the population currently under the age of 15.

The Syed Foundation has recently worked in two villages in Pakistan to provide clean drinking water, rebuild and/or renovate schools, locate qualified teachers and generally provide children a better chance at becoming educated.
