Rev. George Mathison
"Putting the Four-Way Test into Action"
Rev. George Mathison, senior pastor of Auburn United Methdoist Church, addressed the Auburn Rotary Club on the
subject of Rotary's Four-Way Test. He entertained and enlightened the club with humorous anecdotes from his ministry that exemplified ways we can put our Rotary motto into action our every day lives.  He told us to think of our lives as a book.  Like a book the words we use make up the chapters of our lives.  Words have the power to do good and bad, to help or to harm.  If everyone would reflect on the words they use more carefully, we can improve not only the quality of our lives, but of those around us.  He said we should all strive to speak the truth, and to be fair and kind to the people with whom we interact.  Use our words to build goodwill and friendship, and finally strive to make our words be beneficial to those around us.  Positive thoughts, reflected in positive words can greatly improve everyone's life.
