Auburn Parks and Recreation After-school Art Program |
Kitty Frey spoke to the Auburn Rotary Club about the Auburn Parks and Recreation Department's after-school arts program for kids. This program introduces children to both visual art (drawing, painting, etc.) as well as performance arts (e.g. dance). Not only are the students allowed to work on their art skills, but they are also exposed to all kinds of art with field trips to exhibits, programs and performances. Although there is some grant money that helps fund this program, the program is dependant on other funding and volunteers to help keep the program afloat. This is particularly true in the summer programs, since the children are provided not only snacks, but also free lunches. The program is year-round, with each session lasting approximately 10 weeks. If you are interested in volunteering or donating money, contact Auburn's Parks and Recreation Department. |
