Rotarian and Auburn City Schools Board of Education president Dr. Anne Penney presented this year's ACS Teachers of the Year:
Elementary Teacher of the Year: Silvia Scaife
Scaife has been with Auburn City School for nine years, and during that time she has taught first, second and third grades. Currently, she teaches third grade at Wrights Mill Road Elementary. Her nominee described her as “born to teach” and as exceptionally attentive to students who have unusual or specific needs. She was described as having the uncanny knack to figure out students' wants and needs.
Secondary Teacher of the Year: Tim Carter
Carter has 15 years of teaching experience, with the last five of those at at Auburn High School. He teaches 10th and 11th grade U.S. history, coaches junior varsity baseball, girls' golf and is an assistant varsity football coach. His nominee described his genuine love for young people and stated that Carter always has time for students. He thanked the school's administration for the professional assistance he and the other teachers receive and also thanked our club for today’s honor.
Both recipients were presented with $500 honorarium from the club.
