Embry Burrus
Speech Pathologist and Author

Author Embry Burrus, who is also a speech pathologist and instructor in Auburn University’s Speech and Hearing Clinic, spoke about her recent self-published book, “Mama and Margaret." Embry felt compelled to write a book about her disabled older sister, Margaret, who was raised at home by a very loving and caring family. She wanted to detail the significance of her father’s struggle, her mother’s courage and her own curiosity about a sister that was “different” than other children. Embry’s mother was adamant about raising Margaret at home as a normal child. Mama treated Margaret just like her older brother and younger sister. Mama did her best by accepting the circumstances and allowing good things to happen.
