AU College of Business

Dr. Daniel Butler, of Auburn University's College of Business opened his presentation by thanking Rotary International for his 1981 sponsorship as a Rotary Scholar to San Martin, Argentina. He recounted his return trip to Argentina in 2004.

He then outlined the college's joint undergraduate program, the Business and Engineering Technology Minor Program, or BET. This is a joint two-year program in the College of Business and Samuel Ginn College of Engineering. Business students take engineering courses and engineer students take business courses. By interacting, the business students have a better understanding of the
engineering (development/production) process and engineers have an understanding of the business (marketing/logistics) process. The ultimate goal is to have a well-rounded student who can be more productive upon
graduation.

The program allows the students to work (engineer and
market) on actual products that are introduced into the market. Students have an exchange opportunity through BET with sister institutions in England and India.
