Dr. Bryan Duncan
Global Water Watch

Global Water Watch (GWW) began at Auburn University in the
1990s. Management of the network and technical support is provided by the International Center for Aquaculture and Aquatic Environments at Auburn University. Today, GWW projects are in Brazil, Ecuador, Mexico, Thailand, Philippines and China.

GWW is a voluntary network of community-based water monitoring groups. It helps communities establish teams of citizens who measure physical, chemical and biological indicators of watershed health. Groups, using their water data, are able to restore steams and lakes, improve drinking water quality and public health, implement environmental education programs and advocate improve water policy.

Bryan Duncan highlighted GWW's efforts in Brazil, and strives to improve the quality of life for children and their families through improvement of water quality and prevention of waterborne disease. Other areas the program is working in are water availability and utilization, protection and restoration of watersheds, promotion of environmental education and improvement opportunities for economic growth and income through aquaculture and irrigated, high-value crops.
