Executive Director
Alabama Special Olympics

Dr. Bob Bushong, executive director of the Alabama Special Olympics, provided an update on the games in general and, specifically, the Alabama State Special Olympics to be held in Auburn May 20-22. This is the fifth consecutive year the State Games have been held in Auburn. Approximately 1,100 athletes will be competing in 11 different sports. Bob emphasized that Special Olympics helps these athletes accomplish goals that they previously thought were unattainable.

Ms. Jane Cameron, a Montgomery special olympian, discussed her appreciation for Special Olympics. It has helped her gain confidence to move out of a group home, live in an apartment, obtain a job, and act as a coach for another special olympian.
