Auburn/Opelika Robert G. Pitts Airport

The Auburn Rotary Club met at the Robert G. Pitts Auburn-Opelika Airport. Rotarian Bill Hutto, director of the airport, did triple duty at our March 10 meeting, serving as meeting planner, host and program. Bill's program addressed an overview of the airport, with an emphasis on its future plans and upcoming upgrades. He noted the benefits past upgrades, like the runway expansion, has played in increased use and revenue for the facility. These upgrades, and future ones to include a new terminal, will further expand the airport's ability to redirect business-related travelers once flying through Montgomery and Columbus to Auburn. Most of these visitors fly to the area in conjunction with local business at many area industries, such as Briggs and Stratton.
