Auburn Rotary Club Program

February 24, 2005
Lt. Col. Billy Shaw
Battillion Commander and
AU ROTC Professor of Military Science

Auburn Rotarian Bill Shaw presented his program “Dedicated Athletes With Guts” during our meeting celebrating Rotary's 100th anniversary. Shaw teamed up with North Georgia College's women's basketball coach to challenge them with physical and mental stress—including some Special Forces training—during a week-long period. Long periods of physical work conditioned the team to experience“stress,” which expanded their performance outside their normal 60-percent range. It built mental toughness that paid off with three back-to-back championship seasons.

Also during the meeting Auburn Mayor Bill Ham presented a city proclamation to celebrate Rotary's 100th birthday on Feb. 23. The club celebrated the century milestone in true birthday style.
