PolioPlus NIP Vaccination Team Egyptian Contingent |
|
Just as President-Elect Debbie Shaw said, “some of the best programs are done by our own members." Thanks to Jim Golson for giving us a recap of his NIP, National Immunization Program, trip to Egypt. ‘Where there was water it was green and lush, where there wasn’t any water it was a dessert’ summed up the slides we saw of this country. Many delays in administering the vaccinations were experienced, as well as the best laid logistical plans going awry due to Egypt's government. Overall the NIP team did show well in their organization of PolioPlus immunizations. The Rotary team saw the country from a tourist bus, although guarded with an armed escort. They did help nurses go from apartment to apartment seeking children under five to administer the vaccination. The NIP group proved to be an astoundingly patient crowd of Rotarians, considering all the delays, but Jim's presentation proved it was a very rewarding and successful trip.
