Recommendations for tree safety around the home were the highlight of our Oct. 14 meeting program. Art discussed how to choose trees for your yard, how important spacing is, as well as how important considerations like avoiding power lines, protecting tree roots and keeping planting areas properly drained are. With a number of trees meeting their demise as a result of Hurricane Ivan, this topic was of interest to many considering how best to replace their trees, or how better to prepare and protect their homes next time high wind gusts are forecasted.
