Auburn Rotary Club Program

September 2, 2004
Dr. Terry Jenkins
Superintendent, Auburn City Schools

Dr. Terry Jenkins, former Auburn Rotarian, presented a state-of-the-schools report to the club, especially in terms of how area growth affects the school system's efforts. Auburn K-12 student population has grown at a rate of three times the norm this new school year. Additional classrooms, portable buildings and new buildings are on the horizon to ensure our students experience the proper learning environment. The Auburn Early Education Center (Auburn's kindergarten) witnessed a huge spike in enrollment this year.

Dr. Jenkins also discussed the progress toward satisfying No Child Left Behind federal requirements, which includes expanded professional education for teachers and staff.
