Dr. Ed Richardson
State Superintendent of Education

Dr. Ed Richardson returned to Auburn, where he served as Auburn City Schools superintendent until Oct. 1995 when he was appointed to his state post.

Dr. Richardson reviewed the benefits of Gov. Riley's proposed $1.2 billion tax and accountable package on the state's educational system. “Children are being sent out after graduation from some of our schools with the inability to read, and this is unacceptable,” Richardson said.

Dr. Richardson was exceptionally pleased in the plan's efforts to hold legally liable local superintendents who purposely mismanage funds.
