ROTARY PRAYER Oh Lord, guide us in our efforts to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise. May we continue to develop our acquaintances and strengthen ourselves to serve your world in our personal, business and community life. Bless this meal and the fellowship in the name of the many faiths we represent. |

Former District Governor Wade Drinkard gave a thought provoking talk on applying the Rotary 4 Way test to every day ethics. He said that ethics are a person’s decision making process more than just the expected societal norms and expectations. Your personal ethics are based on what the individual personally decides to do based on what he/she decides what is right. He went on to give several examples that challenge a person to decide what is ethical, posing the question of are there situations where the ends justify the means. Even though ultimately the individual makes the decision on how to handle a particular situation, the Four Way Test certainly provides a framework for examining a problem and guidelines to use to help you make the ethical choice. |

THE FOUR-WAY TEST of the things we think, say or do 1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOOD WILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all Concerned? |
