ROTARY PRAYER Oh Lord, guide us in our efforts to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise. May we continue to develop our acquaintances and strengthen ourselves to serve your world in our personal, business and community life. Bless this meal and the fellowship in the name of the many faiths we represent. |

Leggett Platt Manufacturing was the site of our Industry visit this year. Dr. Parks and the folks at the Industrial Development board were kind enough to set up a tent and chairs as well as a portable PA for our visit. We were fortunate to be there for the announcement that Pace Industries has combined with Leggett Platt to form one of the largest aluminum die casting manufacturers in the country. J.P. Leggett and C.B. Platt were both residents of Carthage, a county seat in southwest Missouri, when they formed their business partnership in 1883. . Locally this plant has production agreements with Briggs and Stratton as well as Harley—Davidson Motorcycles to produce parts for their products. It’s a testament to our city that we’ve been able to attract companies of this caliber into our community to provide tax revenue and jobs to the citizens of Auburn/Opelika. |
