“1974 and the Auburn Rotary Club”
According to the records in our archives, 1974 was a banner year for the Auburn Rotary Club. Here are some of its highlights:
| Jan. 12 |
Ted Wilson joined the club. In 1988, he later became club president. |
| Feb. 21 |
Bill McLemore was accepted into membership. Bill was elected president in 1983 and drafted our club's “Rotary Prayer.” |
| July 25 |
Past President Reid Davis became the club’s first Paul Harris Fellow. |
| Sept. 12 |
Herb Taylor, author of Rotary’s “Four-way Test,” completed a makeup at our club. |
| Oct. 3 |
Clint Baker became a member, sponsored by Ellsworth Steele. Neither could anticipate that 26 years later, Clint would sponsor Ellsworth’s return to membership after a very long absence. Clint went on to become club president in 1992.

| Oct. 10 |
The Bulletin Editor warned the club that as to the day’s program: “You have to be surprise because the program chairman for the day did not contact the Editor!” The Editor did note that Grady Cox would introduce the speaker at the next club meeting and that Floyd Vallery, Jim Vallery’s father, a past president and district governor, had joined Reid Davis as a Paul Harris Fellow.
