History: a study of the club archives “Reaching out to the International Students” Our Rotary archives reveal that as early as 1931, the Auburn Rotary Club was making close contact with the various international students on the Auburn University campus. In May of that year, Professor and Rotarian C. A. Bauman took three Auburn students to speak at the Rotary Club in Troy, Ala. A student from Cuba told the Troy Rotarians about the problems of a one-crop culture as it affected his island home. A student from Mexico explained the programs underway in his country to improve roads and schools. A third student, from Armenia, related stories of inter-group strife as it plagued his Asiatic homeland and spoke of ways in which Rotarians and their internationalist message could help bring peace.
