The Auburn Rotary Club named it's Citizen of the Year at the weekly meeting.

Citizen of the Year is the most prestigious honor awarded annually to an individual or individuals who exemplify the Rotary motto of Service Above Self.

This years award winners are Dr. David and Debbie Smalley. David

Smalley is a local pediatrician. He and his wife Debbie have truly served the Auburn - Opelika Community by not only their professional service but also by their willingness to serve as foster and adoptive parents.

The Smalleys humbly accepted the award on behalf of all foster and adoptive parents by saying, “Our small part has only touched the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the numbers of children who need good foster care in our area" They hope that this recognition will help bring the need for more foster parents into the public awareness.
