Dr. George H. Mathison is senior pastor of Auburn United Methodist Church, where he has served since 1990. He is a graduate of Opelika High School, Young Harris Junior College, Huntingdon College, and Emory University. He received his Doctorate through the Sewanee-Vanderbilt Joint Doctor of Ministry Coalition. He served as a Research Fellow at Yale University in Biblical Homiletics.

Dr. Mathison has been honored as “Outstanding Young Religious Leader” in Mobile County, Ala., by the Jaycees; one of the “Outstanding Young Men in America”; and “Saraland Citizen of the Year.” He is a championship-caliber tennis player and author of five books. He has been extremely active in the community and the United Methodist Church, and serves on the Board of Trustees for Huntingdon College.

Dr. Mathison and his wife Monteigne, an art teacher at Drake Middle School, have one adult daughter Mallory.
